    Default Automated VHF Radio Check

I just found this out from Sport Fishing Magazine...Sea Tow offers FREE automated radio checks on your marine VHF radio. Apparently this service has been out for a year or so...And the good part is, it's absolutely free, you don't have to be a member of Sea Tow to use this service. Hopefully the word will get out because too many boaters clog up channel 16 with radio checks and other unnecessary chatter. Channel 28 covers my area, lower NY, NY harbor. Here's the link to find what channel covers your area and a quick video.

Freshwater is for drinking, Saltwater is for fishing

Radio hogs aren't a concern here in the desert as very few boaters have VHF. I've noticed however that most catfishermen around here do have and use VHF for communication between boats. We use channel 6.
