Just thought I'd make a test post and include a little info about the Steelhead fishing in WNY's feeders this spring.
It was one of those tough Springtimes for the smaller creeks running into Lake Erie! Water too high and dirty for most of the time, then dropped in a couple of days to near-summer conditions! The Cattauraugus was in "good shape" for only a few intermittent days. Tough all over! Creeks are filled now with suckers and carp on their spawning runs, soon to be followed by the Smallmouths. Best trout fishing now are the inland streams, fly fishing for the stocked and holdover Browns. Maybe tomorrow! Good luck to you! Best---- JoeW |

Welcome to the forums, Joe! ;D
Sorry for taking this a bit off topic, but what do you use for bait? I've been steelhead fishing a few times, but nothing serious. For steelhead, I've used red string tightly looped around the hook with a few inches trailing off. Here's a topic that I started: http://outdoor-fishing.com/off-shore...shing/new/#new Lately, our weather has been slightly out of wack. We had some high and low temps, but nothing constant. Today and the next few days we are expecting rain. Fatworm |
