Arrow (Has Ended)First OF Forum Fly Swap !

Ok since i opened my mouth about a fly swap it looks like I have been nominated da swapmeister. first time so I shall do my best to help it run smooth.

first of all I will give a rundown of how it works. those who signs up will tie up 10 fly's the same pattern and send them to me( I will PM everyone with my address and get your return address) when all the flys are collected I shall send one each of each of the other participants fly's to you so you will get 10 back( not your own back) i limited it to 10 in case we don't get alot of participation and I did not want everyone to make up twelve and not have twelve people participate. if it goes well then we can do it again .

Lets make this easy to start with. at Joe's suggestion we will not limit it any particular type of fly. just choose your favorite pattern wether it is of your own design or an existing pattern. Also to promote more participation you may make your pattern a small jig.

Deadline for me to receive your fly's to re distribute will be June 1st. have fun and lets see what ya got. I am a beginner tyer so don't worry if you are new to tying.

Post or PM me with your intentions to join. you can state what pattern you will tie or just say to be determined.

I forgot to mention, please include a small toe tag with each fly(small strip of paper with the fly name and your user name.

I'm in! deciding on my fly pattern! Mebbe a Boo Streamer, Panfish wet-fly, of my "secret" beetle. Probably depends on what hook I can find 10 of! I hope someone offers Elk hair Caddis- I hate tying those things! And bd- how about some bead head nymphs- I hate making those, too! LOL! Best---- JoeW

I will do something in a beadhead. right now i love anything with a beadhead, keeps me from crowding the hook eye.

I've seen the same thing on the N.A.F.C. site. I don't have time to tie, lucky when I have time to fish, but seems like a great idea for those who do. Have fun and Happy Fishing.

Thanks Sharps. I am looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

looks like we are a little sparse so far. we wil leave it open for a few more days to see if anyone else is interested. cmon folks even if you are just getting started in tying like myself you still have something to contribute.

I think to encourage participation we should also allow a participant to be able to tie up different fly's instead of 10 identical. If you want to do 10 identical then that would still be great. if we don't get ten participant then we will just go with whatever # of folks we end up with plus myself.

Cool

Like b or b said...this is a very popular event on NAFC. Even though I don't tie...I still keep tabs on the event...it is very interesting to see everyones flies at the end!
