This tip will work equally well for keeping live minnows or for your catch for weigh-in.
To super oxygenate your livewell water add hydrogen peroxide at the ratio of 1 ounce hydrogen peroxide to 5 gallons of water. Do not excede this ratio. This is how this works.Water is H2O, hydrogen peroxide is H2O2. The extra oxygen atom in hydrogen peroxide bonds with the water molecules to super oxygenate your livewell water. ;) You can fish all day without using a water or air pump. You do still need to keep the water cool however. Place ice in a 1 quart zip lock baggie and place in the livewell water, or use a commercially made frozen cooler gel pack.
The hydrogen peroxide is also handy for those fishing mishaps that require minor first aide.
Happy fishing! :)

always good to keep peroxide in your boat. A couple years ago i got stuck with a fin getting my fish out of the livewell well no big deal right, not normally but fish had toxins in his system and i got fish poisoning. Hand was swollen for weeks and the doctors had a hard time figuring it out. My brother skippers ocean boats and he told me what it was. so now i i always put peroxide immediately if I break the skin out on the water it will neutralize it immediately. Just a thought for those who have never experienced it hurts like B--ch. rubbing alcohol help too. Scott

Thats a good idea. My minnows keep dying over night. This might help.

afeef, if you're putting fresh water from your tap at home in with your minnows...
that could be what's killing them.
Municipal water supplies usually contain enough Chlorine to kill fish.
To get rid of it, you can just leave a bucket of water sit out for a day or two, and the chlorine will evaporate off...also, using rain water is an option.
peroxide will help keep fish alive...but not in chlorinated water. ;)
