Just back from 18-mile creek (lake Erie): "Usual" spots had many cars parked and fishermen surrounding the usual spots. Weather in the 50's, bright and sunny. Not the best conditions. Fishermen there reported " a few caught early in AM".
Fished the lower reaches at a "secret spot" called the "Blue Hole". No one else there, as it's a half mile walk through the woods to get to it!
Missed the first one! felt 8 lbs or more. Just a jolting hit that took me by surprise (as usual!)
Landed and released a 2-3 pounder (NOT smoker-worthy!)
Water clear, a little lower than what I'd like, leaves a nuisance, but not bad. Two fish hit egg sacs below a float, as they lifted at end of drift. OK for only fishing 2 hours. Saw no other fish. Building up to be a poor year here!
Haven't heard from the Cat, but suspect it is dropping and may be getting rid of the mud. Ha! Rain tomorrow!
