Favorite fishing rod topic-
I find the Shakespeare 6 footer best for my type of fishing. The design is very flexible and allows me to feel those "small bites". Normally, it goes for around $30 in the local Wal-Mart. Had one for about a few years now and had no rings fall off.
So, which one is your favorite?
-Fatworm-
I have two rods, a Micro Graphite 7' Light action Shakespeare rod and a Lamiglas MBC 702 UL 7' rod. Both are really good casting rods. The only difference would be the price. The Shakespeare cost about 30-40 dollars and the Lamiglas cost me 80 dollars. There is no point of buying the more expensive rod because both work really good for casting and jigging.

the crucials are pricey but soooooooooo worth the money if you can afford to drop that kind of cash on a rod then id suggest a compre or convergence

And that's why I asked! I don't suppose they would offer warranty if my $70 rod broke!
I'll start saving my pennies up!;)

O where to start with my fishing rods...
My favorite open water rod would probably be my 6' shimano pro angler which was given to me probably 10 years ago as a xmas gift. It is my all purpose rod thats good for just about every species (I leave it at home when Im bass fishing though.)
My favorite Ice rod....oooo boy...I have so many. I guess I have two favorites.
My first favorite is my YAD IRC-28. Its a 28" medium action rod which is my "go to" for jigging for walleye and monster crappies.
My other favorite is a custom built fiberglass rod. It was made by a company called dlf custom rods in Eyota, MN. This rod is usually set up as my deadstick or bobber rod when fishing crappies. Here is a pic of the handle on the rod. He turns each handle on his lathe by hand and one at a time. I don't know how he can sell them for what he does and still make a buck off them. The quality is second to none and you cant beat them for the price.

I found that the best pole i have bought was a 8ft Pescaro medium-heavy action (20-40lb), which is a hand made pole in Japan, and the local tackle store here they have a picture of it with a 300lb. test lead ball on it and it was flexed, they couldn't break it, so if one gets broken you can take it back and they will replace it for free. I paid $60.00 for it and it came with a Shakespeare Agility Reel, and i have a 40lb. Test line on the pole and have pulled up fish at 200lb. without a problem.
My freshwater pool is the same pole just the smaller version pole and reel...Well worth the money

I have 6 G Lommis rods that I love. 3 are 6 foot baitcasters, 2 6'6 spin, and a 6 foot spin. O and I forgot about the 5'6 crappie lommis. I don't use it much but my son loves it.

I have an old rod 7' and made of fiberglass. The lettering is gone but I think it is a Shakespear. It somewhere between a medium action an a heavy action . Works for bass or catfish. Plus if your fishing in a storm you don't have to worry about lightening turning you into a crispy critter.

My favorite rods would have to be Browning of course. It was my first rod given to me by a guy that I used to work for mowing lawns when I was a teenager. It was a great rod, really pretty, and a great fishing rod. I guess I never got over the nostalgia but on top of that it is a great tool. I have several now, with Browning reels as well. Its semi expensive equipment, but not enough to break the bank, they have great action, and I've caught some pretty good fish with them. My favorite fly gear, at the moment, is Redington, but probably only because I don't have experience with most of the others due to cost. I am sure there are better fly rods out there but I can't afford them at the moment. Browning also had fly gear, but I have yet to try them out.

Like dbarnett1 I have two Wright and McGill 6'6" spinning rods I use all the time. They are older ones made in Colorado. I bought a newer version which was cheap and foriegn made but still a good value. A trick someone taught me that may or not be old hat here: use one of those Mr. Clean magic erasers wet to clean your cork handles, unbelievable results. Joe

I like to fish for flatheads at night. I bought a new rod for them recently. It's a Bass Pro Shops labeled rod. An Offshore Angler Power Plus Trophy Class 7' boat rod, 30-50 pound line rating, item #1041. I bought it from the BPS online catalog. It is listed under salt water rods. This is a 1 piece fiberglass rod, very heavy action, with 7 oversized stainless steel line guides , soft EVA extra long handle, and a gimbal at the end of the handle with a snap on cap to make it more comfortable without a fighting belt. And this rod is available at an unbelievable price.....$25.99!!! This rod can handle ANY flathead. I added my Penn Peer 209 levelwind reel and Offshore Angler Magibraid 80 pound test braided Dacron line (same diameter as 40 pound monofiliment).

NEW AND IMPROVED FLATHEAD RIG! JoeW had a package of large rod guides and tips in the "for free" forum. Jgreen49 got them, then passed them on to me. In this package was an Allan roller tip, perfect size to fit my flathead rod. I had it installed last week. Now next fishing trip I will be able to use my improved flathead rig! Thanks JoeW and Jgreen49! :D

I hear ya on that one dugger. only channels and bullhead around my neck of the wood.
My favorite rod is one that I inherited from my father when he passed away. his best made it for him in the early eighties and is a 7' spinning rod made from a fenwick boron blank. the handle and bottom section is all one piece, the handle is the blank and not just a through blank with the cork slipped over it. at the time it was the lightest most sensetive rod I had handled. now I am having a hard time taking it out to use because I don't want to break it or worse have it stolen.

Oh for the days of my youth when Marlin ,sails ,big catfish and kingfish giant groupers and other giants all feared the dugger, but alas stuck in the desert with only giant lake trout {and how sweet are those } as my foe no wheel guide needed but we can all live a little thru the giants of others Fish on brothers fish on!!

I want to go deep sea fishing real bad but my buddy told me I shouldn't because when he did it ruined lake fishing for him for a long time
The best I can do is narrow it down to three:
My favorite bass rod is a Fenwick HMX 7ft. MH fast tip.
For catfish, nothing beats an Ugly Stik.
For panfish, I have an Eagle Claw that I really like.
http://www.getsmile.com/emoticons/funny-smileys/thumbs-up.gif
My everyday user is a shakespear 6 foot med action. I had the rod for over 30 years now
For fishing my favorite fish Da Gills I have a no name ultra light rod I picked up at a yeard sale
a few years ago, I think I paid about $1.50 for it.
The lady threw in the real to it for an extra buck.
Currently I am in the process of making 2 bamboo cane poles for my daughter and my self.
I use to make cane pole to sell when I was a kid. I usally made enough to buy enough tackle to
to get me through the summer.
