My grandfather had 2 tackle boxes of that type loaded with old lures and gear. Someone pilfered them when he died :(. Really disappointing!!! I REALLY wanted those!!!

Nice post mfs! Looks like someone liked Flatfish! And I've been on the water when the "sparkplug casters" were there. Man! When anyone within earshot would hear that old baitcaster screech on a cast they'd duck! I think if they hit within 50 yards of their intended target, it was considered a good cast!

Yea- the "stories" that old box could tell you!

Whenever I pick up an old box full of tackle, i always inquire and try to find out the history behind it. Who- where- when, etc. I've gotten involved in hours long discussions with old fishermen about their tackle and listening to their stories. Or with relatives that remember "grandpa's old tackle". Many times I just end up telling them that they should keep it, maybe display some if it, because it had meaning for them.

Hang up some of that tackle on an old fishnet! Best----- JoeW

That man knew how to fish . I see them spark plugs . Bet they ain't for motors . My grandpa kept used ones for bank sinkers . I use them for snagging weights as well .

My Grandpa got lucky in the timing of his retirement. Shortly after he sold the boat yard the salmon started up in Michigan. The salmon tackle available hadn't caught up to the fishery yet so he had to improvise. Big Flatfish with big hooks. Casting cowbells and flashers used for Lake Trout wasn't really practical. I still remember some of those early trips to Manistee when I was just a kid.

The first group is the Darter. The second pic is the Con Caved Darter and the third pic is the jointed Darter. I have been collecting these for about three years now...
