Limiting forum to Members Only

Need the Members input. Would you like to have our forum only accessable to members(would have to be a members to read posts and must log in) or have it accessable to anyone surfing the internet(Do not have to be a Member to read all the posts and have access to all posts).

John how about non members can only access the first page of recent posts say the last 10 or 15 subjects only they can not go to the thread and read it entirelyif they wish to do sothen they need to become a member kind of like a magazine in a plastic coveryou can see what they have to offer but to get the whole story they have to buy the magazine

yea, I agree with mustache. people won't buy the cow if they get the milk for free, but you DO have to give them a little taste to get them interested. I don't know if it can be done, but can HP be made viewable to "lookers" without giving them access to the actual posts? I've seen it done. Best----- JoeW

the 2 locksmith forms I am on
have a guest area. they can ask a question, read certain post but can not access the
entire form. they have to be a member to do this.
like JoeW said give them a taste, then if they want more they have to become a member

My opinion is viewers can see anything on the forums but cannot post , comment, or vote in polls unless they first become members. My two cents

i think they should be able to see the home page . if any of the topic's interest them they will join.

I think it may be a good idea to limit the access to what a "guest" can participate in. By no means am I saying that my website is the perfect example, but I make "guests" register before they can read the weekly fishing report.

Whatever is decided, I am sure it will be acceptable!!!

Thanks for all the comments. They will all be weighed and before any changes are made I will make sure I post what the changes will be. Keep em coming......Vote and express your opinion. Bottom line is that its the Members that make Outdoor-Fishing what it is.
