Here are a few guidelines for buying and selling in the Outdoor-Fishing forums.

Please read this entire thread before making any attempt to buying or selling on the forums. Remember Outdoor-Fishing is not responsible for transactions that take place here.

For sellers:

1. Describe the item to the best of your ability by stating any defects, or usage.

2. Upload good pictures to help aid your description.

3. Post asking price.

4. State any other information that will help your buyer.

After the deal is made and the money was sent:

5. Use a tracking number to ship the item. In case anything goes wrong, you will be able to have proof that you actually shipped the item.

6. Post the name of the buyer who bought your item.

7. Lock the thread and make a post to let others know that it has been sold.

8. Leave feedback for the buyer.

For Buyers:

1. Check the sellers trader ratings, reputation, and/or ebay feedback. Search members real name on google and see if they have any reputation. Common scammers will normally have users on other websites as well. (You can request a sellers name via PM)

2. Contact the seller with any questions you may have. Talk everything over and discuss what each party is responsible for. If you are sending a money order, then you need to let the seller know. Checks - Wait for the check to clear before sending the item.

3. Send the money to the seller.

4. When the item arrives, let the seller know.

5. Leave feedback.

Communication is key when buying and selling items. You and the buyer must work things out prior to sending money and shipping the item.

Always be suspicious with anyone you are dealing with. Unless you personally know that someone then there really is no way to tell who they are and what they are up to. Possible hints for a bad deal may be things like a lack of communication, someone who uses delay tactics, inconsistency with other users, suggestive towards closing a deal faster then a normal person would.

A seller has every right to refuse to sell to whomever they choose, just like any buyer has the right to back out of a deal.

Be true to your word and always do the right thing. If the buyer is not satisfied with your item, then do the right thing by sending a partial refund or replacing whatever is needed.

In case a deal does go bad, do not panic. Contact the seller first and make an attempt to work things out. Be friendly, but firm. Attacks will only put the other party on the defence and the chances of working something out will start to rapidly decrease. Mistakes can be made so please give the seller a timely manner to respond. Focus on things that you can do to make things right. If you still feel that you have been scammed then you can take things to the next level by posting here via the Trader Talk forum, contacting paypal, filing for mail fraud, or any other forms of legal action that you feel are applicable.

It is impossible to tell how things will work out. We all want to have an honest transaction, but things happen, and mistakes are made. Be aware that not all people are honest, so please be on your guard!

We hope that all transactions will be as smooth as possible!

Best of luck,
