Who doesn't love these great lures? For some reason...I have a hard time finding lures in this good of condition around my home. Most of the ones around here are pretty rough...so I am particularly proud of this trio. The top one(my favorite) came from our good friend here at O-F JoeW. The other two were eBay finds...and trust me...that is even harder that the yard sales, unless you have DEEP pockets! :D

Just fantastic, Mo! I thought i recognized that top one- he's an old friend of mine! LOL!

And the one in the middle- the Snook size--- that is a tough size to find... anywhere! I don't think Creek Chub sold as many of those since the size is right in the middle between the regular and the husky.

Something to keep in mind- the "straight" versions with no joint are always a bit tougher to find. Once Creek Chub came out with the jointed ones, the sales on the non-jointed fell through the floor. People really liked the action of the jointed ones a lot better.

looks like you're trying to build a collection of all the different models and sizes? Great idea! let's see, Creek Chub made 6 standard sizes in Glass eye, with a straight and a jointed of each, plus the two fly rod sizes (always straight) and the Giant Jointed (always jointed)... wait, gotta take my socks off. That's 15 different ones you need! Funny- the little tiny ones are tougher to find! You got a good start! Contiunued good luck, buddy! Best---- JoeW ;)

Mo! I just noticed the eye on that Silver Shiner! Is it really black/white/black, like in the photo? Can you post a pic of eye other side? You may have a very nice piece of info coming up...

Joe...here's a look at those eyes. They appear to be dark/light/dark, but more of a brown/beige/brown that a black/white/black. You say there's a story?:D

Oh, OK. Sorry- the eyes looked different in the first pic. Wish i had better news. Dang it- got all excited. Story: back in the late 1950-early 1960's when Creek Chub was switching from Glass eyes to painted rounded Tack eyes, they apparently ended up with some lures with the GE's already installed, or maybe just with left-over GE's. Not wanting to confuse customers with some having glass eyes and some with the painted, they apparently just painted over the Glass eyes! It's tough to tell, but the reg painted tacks always sat up on top of the body, whereas a painted over Glass eye will be set in a "socket" drilled into the body. The Painted Glass eyes are considered a pretty scarce variation- I've only had two in all my collecting! Thought I had a pleasant surprise for you.

And BTW- although Creek Chub made some Pikies in pretty splashy colors, Gold Shiner and Silver Shiner are two of my favorites! There's a neat story about those two colors, too! Best---- JoeW
