I had to get up at 5:30am because I promised my Dad I would go to the warm water discharge area on the Susquehanna River with him.

We had to get me rigged up with a chartreuse green jighead with a yellow Honeyworm. To rig a honeyworm you will have to take the fat end of the honeyworm and put it on the jig to make it look like the honeyworm has a different head.

I had to wait for my waders because it took my Dad a long time to put his rod together and put his reel on and put his waders on. We went to our first spot and the sun was starting to come out. But no luck in this spot so we moved down to the next spot we go to move down and we saw bald eagles in a tree.

We move down to the next spot I get hung up in this spot so we had to re-rig me up with an orange jig head which is 1/64 oz. with 4-5 maggots. To rig a maggot you will have to take the end that looks like two eyes (they really aren’t eyes), and gently stick them on the jig and leave a little bit of the end.

I go to my favorite spot we were fishing for Bluegill, and Crappie. In this spot I got 4 hits. Then my Dad says “let’s call it a day”. We did not catch any fish. :(

THE END

Even if you did not catch any fish, by looking at the pictures you posted. and the time you spent with your dad. It sounds like a sucessful day. Seeing a bald eagle WOW. I would love to see one that is not in a zoo.
You have made memories to last a life time. I'm glad you had a good time.
Thanks for sharing your trip and pictures with us.

Great post Panfish! Looks like you guys had a great time. Don't worry too much about not catching any, that happens all the time. The next time you go, you might catch one on nearly every cast. Those fish decide when they want to eat...we just have to get lucky and be there when they do! Looking forward to a report on your next trip! :D

The way I look at it is at least you were out.
Remember ( The worst day fishing is better than the best day at work ), besides you don't have to clean anything and you seen great scenery.

When you get to be an old geezer like me you'll spend some time thinking about days like that . You'll spend some time wanting to go back to those days and do it again too . Memories saved may some day be the next thing to being there . Enjoy .

I see eagles on most of my fishing trips. Aren't they awe inspiring?

Buddy what can I say that others haven't already said? Beautiful day with Dad, Great pics to preserve the memory of the day. Thats what it's really all about. Catching the fish is what I like to think of as an added bonus. Wish I could sit in the boat one more time and listen to my Dad tell his stories and share his wisdom. Time moves on though, but you know what? Now I'm the Dad and I get to have these times from the other perspective and it's just as wonderful. I love time spent with my family and even if we don't catch anything we still have great times. Cherish each day and remember to thank the Lord Jesus for each of them. Before you know it you'll be pullin' them fish out like they're takin' numbers and waiting in line for a shot at your hook :D. God Bless. Dave

Thanks for all of the replies. Sorry it took so long I was helping my dad melt some lead and paint my grandma's bathroom.

I do not believe in luck when I am fishing. I think finding fish is the most important and making them bite is next. In this trip we just couldn't find the fish, my dad thinks that the missing weedbeds are part of the problem.

The lead melting and Grandma's painting were two entirely separate projects right? The lead wasn't part of the painting? -no-
