I got hit with about a dozen emails asking if I could build an Alibama rig . Now I'm not much on fad lures . The price for one of these things is horrible . So I set about to build an economical one . The umbrella is built separate from the head so you can change the head weights . I can put in 5 wires using this method . Total length is around 6'' just about right for bass fishing . I said I wasn't going to do another lure until after the first looks like I fibbed .

Hey toadfrog, lots of guys have been saying(not just on this site) that you can save money by getting saltwater umbrella rigs instead of the Alabama rig. While they are cheaper, they're also even heavier. Personally, I like the looks of your version, much more streamlined...more well suited to casting. Can you imagine tying one of those saltwater umbrellas to your bass rod? I think you have improved upon the "latest fad"!

Mo65 The thing about it is you can ship the umbrella and use any head you have . Even attach it like a trailer to a spinner . Save on some of that cursed shipping . Figure to avoid dragging something like that around on my line . Another thing with them is . Where you gonna out it in the box . Once the wires are bent they stay unless you wad them up put a rubber band around them .

WOW I have never seen anything like that.
how many hooks will that hold at a time? 4 or 5 ?
and of course Sir Toadie you know I have to ask. But this time I wont. LOL
there is some top qulity work in that lure. another from the master mind.

cwd they put a small jig on each leg . Usually a plastic swim bait . This has 5 legs . I can put up to 7 on it. Believe it or not those things sell for 25 bucks on the big ones . It will be a cold day in Hades before I pay that for any lure that is not not a collectors item . Even on this small one you need a pretty heavy rod . Go to the gym and build your arms up if you plan on spending a day wagging this mess around.

Boy- that Nebraska ruling looks pretty shaky to me. It IS one lure (you only tie your line to it in one place), just has five hooks. Hmmmmm. State Supreme Court ruling coming up I bet! Best---- JoeWshrug

Most Nebraska Laws are Shaky..............bahahaha
It will be interesting, this state wastes money on vague laws all the time.

This type of Lure looks to me to be a possible Nightmare, way to much going on:eek:

Toadfrogs lure does look alot more Slimeline then most I have seen:D

State of MN with 10,000 laws and 10,000 more loop holes. Just put a little spinner blade on it and it's all just one big lure. LOL. :D

But if you tie one crank and another to chase it by connecting those two lures with just one splitring, you're guilty of using two lures. Put a little spinner blade on, then it's all one big lure.

Then again, you can attach as many trailer hooks as you want. It's all part of one lure, after you put a little spinner on it.

shrug Something about that little spinner blade. I kind of wonder about a tandem spinnerbait alabama rig.

Here in Arizona you can have 2 hooks per rod or two lures per rod. That's it , so that rig is illegal here! -no-

Well if the EPA gets their way and the country gets E-15 fuel forced on us, the next thing to be banned will be power boats!!!:mad::mad:
