Although it's not a first choice of bait to use for catching walleyes, I was very surprised when the first time I caught a walleye on it years ago. Well afterwards there was sometimes an unusual cutbait pattern that would show up every now and then but more frequently in the fall. However I've hooked into walleyes during summer nights as well. Usually I'm setting cutbait for some channel catfish but the walleyes would be the bonus for the night. I've caught them off of cutbait both set on bottom as well as hanging off of a bobber.
