One of my favorite spinners that I use very often are called "Wedding Rings". This Lure was created in the northwest about 35 years ago. Five years ago one of my buddies introduced this spinner to me. Trout, Kokanee, Walleye, SmallMouth.... They all go for it.

I construct my own wedding rings which allows me to make any colors I want. The Wedding Ring Spinner is called the "wedding Ring" Because of the ring in the center of the spinner. When you troll with your "Wedding Ring" the blade of the lure spins, which reflects off light. The reflections of light hit the ring which then sends of sparkling rays of light. Fish are then attracted.

I troll wedding rings with "Bottom Bouncers" or "Bottom Walkers". I have seen many guys use banana sinkers and it works for them. Other people troll with lead line or on surface.

Because of this ring, I caught many fish. I caught many walleye on this spinner. The biggest Smally I caught went for my chartreuse wedding ring.

Go out there and try this spinner!

Sorry for the terrible quality of photos.

Note: The last Picture is a special wedding ring designed for Kokanee. This spinner can also be refereed to as "Kokanee Killer"

I've never seen anything like that around here! I'm going to hunt around for the wedding rings and tapered beads and I'll have some ready for next spring! Right now- the fishing in WNY is pretty dead for me. Trout streams are too low and clear, Steelhead won't run for another few weeks, and the Lake Erie fish are deep in the colder water. The walleyes are taken in 60-80 feet of water on cannonball downriggers and expensive set-ups. Tried it, didn't like that style of fishing. But in the late spring, when the rivers are still cold, they draw in a lot of walleyes (and Smallies!) which hang around for a few weeks. That's my time! I'm sure I'll be throwing some wedding rings at them and I'm sure they've never seen one of them around here! Thanks! Best---- JoeW

I will make sure to make a DIY thread on wedding rings and spinners.

In the Columbia river the Walleye are from 15-30 feet deep right now. Later they will go down to 80-90 feet. When they are that deep I use a 1/2 oz lead head jig and jig for them. I never use down-riggers for walleye. Bottom walkers work good and only cost a few Dollars.

Check out Macks Lures they have a ton of rings and wings if you are in to them rigs. I myself just think a ring would maybe add a little flash to your rig, I have used them in the past but with no real slam over the rest of the rigs. I would spend my money on a pack of different size blades first and work from there.

If you make your own, you know which one works best... A pink one for instance would be a good color to use for walleye... I tried colors like that...

Macks lures makes most basic and popular colors like green, red, and orange!
but yourself, you can buy a bunch of beads and create any assortment you like.
