Hello all,

Myles is my name. Got an email from somebody about checking this place out. Seems ok to me. Could always use some advice and meet new people. Love to fish but, alas, I have turned into a fair weather person for most everything. I am able to spend alot of days on the great river, Susquehanna, during these times.

Fishing here isn't what it was in the recent past but the PF&BC are working on it. Here is a good time to tell you, I am no friend of the PF&BC. In my opinion, they have turned into another giant government beaurarcy. They have lost touch with the general fishing public except when issuing citations. They do not listen to the general fishing public, seem to be leaning toward the big money and a few loud mouthed tournament directors.

They have inadequate boating facilities in many places. By this I mean they could use an upgrade and should add docks to the ramps at the appropriate places. Clean-up at the launches is usually behind, with a build-up of trash (from thoughtless people, no doubt) and the fact that they do not put out trash containers. I guess this is because they want you to carry out your trash. No problem for me, but apparently for others it is. No containers mean thet trash is usually dropped anywhere or usually next to the portable toilets where the smell is already bad.

Just a pet peeve of mine. Don't mean to blast them, not my intent, I did have several convos with them but I keep running into politically correct answers or responses, and little or no action.

Anyways, here I am. Looks like a good place to hang out with like minded people.

Hi Myles! Sounds like you and I belong to the same club! I grew up in Western PA- Oil City. Loved fishing the Allegheny! Also becoming more and more of a fair weather fisherman-- heck- I'm retired- I can wait for the PERFECT day to go out, why go out on the nasty one! Been there- done that! Also have some peeves with the NYS DEC! NYS is losing fishing rights on trout streams because of them harassing landowners, making regs, etc. Can't remember the last time I actually saw DEC officer out patrolling the water for violators.

Hey- lots of stuff do do here- anything about fishing goes here! Good place to catch up on what's been happening is at

Welcome Myles!! I'm pretty new here myself. Good to see another fisherman find this place!

As we're of the same vintage I understand the "fair weather" part.

From what I've been able to gather over the years lots of F&G agencies suffer from the same maladies. Ours does a pretty good job for the most part but sometimes it appears they have placed their head vigorously where the sun doesn't shine.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I usually read all the forums on many sites daily. I only comment when I feel I have something to contribute. I'll try to post from time to time so you all know I am here.

Nepa here, myles (scranton area) and have been witness to exactly what your gripe is all about. I've entered many tournaments and seen our "fellow anglers" making a mess of the public launches. A few launches here are in good condition, there are just as many that needs repairs.
