One of the minor things that I don't like about fishing is tying a new jig or lure. Sometimes I would try 20 different jigs and have to tie each new jig to a new line. In the winter it is more painful because you have to take your gloves off and by the time you tie your new lure, your hands are half frozen.

Last year, a new product came out that just made fishing life a little easier. The "No Knot Fast Snap" allows you to snap off a lure or jig and then snap on a new one in just seconds. The snap is very small and only requires some pliers. These little snaps can be used for practically anything. In fact, I use them all the time now. They also come in several different sizes. I used these for trolling, Jigs and Spinners, and they work perfectly! I've also use these for trolling trout with muddler flies. If the fly is not attracting fish I simply switch the fly with a "snap"! These snaps are made of tough steel wont allow your fish to break away.

I would recommend all fisherman to try fast snaps. These snaps are affordable little tools that save lots of time and freezing your hands in the winter cold.

Tip: be careful not to drop the snap or it will take a while to find it, especially in the snow.

Try these out and let me know what you think.

Good Luck,

RAK

I've used those, but I've lost my source for them! Not only do they permit a quick change, but the loop allows for more "action" on a lure and it's more secure than just tying line to lure, especially on those that don't come with at least a split ring on the line tie! Less cumbersome than a big snap and easier to use, too. Wish I had a nickel for every time I split a thumbnail trying to open a snap! Never tried them on flies, too much of a "purist" , I guess. Good post! Best---- JoeW

LOL I wish I would have one too.

I purchased some small stainless steel pliers that work great for fast snaps. I hold the snap with the pliers and force the hook into the snap. When I fish for Crappie, I change my jig many times. The snap helps me.

Great snaps there I like to use them a ton in the winter months when ice fishing,, I go through a ton of colors and styles and they are fast no waisted time snaps. I rather spend my time fishing than re tieing every 5 min.

I use them on ice too. You have to be careful not to drop them in the snow.

I totally agree with you on the opening part. Once you put it on, It takes a while to take it off unless you use pliers.

They look like they are strong and small so they will not scare the fish away. I think i will have to try these everyone seems to like them. SHOULD I GET SOME? My strategy has always been try to have enough rods for as many lures you want to use so you don't have to keep retying. I am a Bass fisherman are they small enough to not scare finicky bass?

Very small, they were originally designed for fly fishing.

Cool thank you guys for the response that definitely helps put a better image in my head. I did not realize that they were that small. THOSE ARE PERFECT FOR ME.

I use them for Ice all the time. They work great but sometimes hands get cold and you could drop them. They are hard to find in the snow.

If you got one of those Ice Tent/shacks then there shouldn't be any problems.

is a little needle threader from a fabric or craft store! Orvis sells them, too, and they're a little finer than the fabric store ones. You just poke the wire loop through the eye of the hook, poke through your line, pull out the loop, and it carries the line right through! I use them all the time (along with a pair of 4X reading glasses!) to thread flies as small as #16's. As a bonus, you can "pre-rig" a bunch of threaders by stacking the jigs onto the threader, then when you want one, just poke line through loop, pull off the jig, and it's on! I keep a half dozen or so pre-rigged with different flies. They're neat and work! Best---- JoeW :D

PS- gotta tell it! Having good eyesight was a bragging point among my group. One time deer hunting, a buddy looked across a valley to the hill opposite, maybe two miles away, and said- "Look! there's deer". Squinting, I managed to barely see three brown forms moving slowly! But not to be outdone, I said "Yep, looks like three doe. No, wait a minute, there's a little button buck in front!". That ended the eyesight competition! :D

Do they hold a lure well during a fight?
We have some big bass here in Florida.

They are quite small. I never used them before but I'll only use them for fly fishing My two cents . For that end they will definitely enhance changing flies and maintain leader length. I use Berkley cross snaps for my bait cast and spinning lure attachment.

We have some big bass here in Florida. If they are American made they were tough spring steel . Can't say about the ones on the market now . The old ones held even catfish ,big ones . I'll be going this weekend to a shop that should have them . They have carried them for years and years .

I use a variation of these by Excalibur. They really save time when searching for the right color crankbait. As far as strength...I've never had one fail.:D

The ones I recently purchased are called The Original Kwik Klip Snaps made by Al's Goldfish Lure Company, Indian Orchard Mass. On the back of the card that the small bag they come in is stapled to, it says assembled in Mexico. They are priced at $2.39 for a package of 6. My local tackle shop is closing and everything they have left is 70% off, so I bought 10 packs of them the other day as well as a ton of other things. Bought over $130 dollars of gear and baits for $29.

Who ever makes these things should just make some hooks out of it. The metal is strong. I know I wouldn't mind being able to attach a no-knot-hook to a swivel in an instant.
