I'd like to start this post off with some good news! Dave Jr. was all set to deploy to Qatar and that had us kinda blue around here. Some last minute changes pulled his units deployment though. So for now at least he is still here State side and is stationed locally so we get to see him fairly regular.

Now for the Fishin' news. Missouri has certainly kept up with its reputation of wacky weather. We went from 100 degree days to high 60's / low 70's literally overnight. Along with the cool temps we also received an above average amount of rain. The fishing hasn't been very good due to the weather. All is not bad though, we did manage to get in a little fishing time this week. My oldest boy Tim and I fished a couple days and managed to land some small sun perch. He and his wife Ashley fished a local pond and caught a nice stringer of sun perch too. Hope fully before long the bigguns will start hittin' untill then I'm getting a good stock up on my canned fish with these small panfish. They sure are good in the winter when I crack open a jar and make my fish cakes.

Dave Jr. had the best luck. Missouri's Gigging season opened last week and he and my nephew hit it good. They would have faired better if the water hadn't been so high but these cool nights at least cleared it up for them. I am posting some pics. They are at least proof that we do still have some fish around albeit small. LOL Hope to have a nice hawg to post before too long. God Bless. Dave

1st pic: Ole whosis with an itty bitty bass. The lure was about as big as he was.
2nd pic: Tim and Ashley with their stringer of sun perch.
3rd pic: Dave Jr's fish from his gigging trip. Their smallest one was about 12".

Bout time things was look'in up around your place . Be glad when you get to whittling again. Hey I came up with a cheap neat way to seal wood lures . Just take a hand full or two white packing peanuts put them in a jar of acetone . They totally melt and return to a liquid state . Just keep adding the peanuts or acetone until the viscosity is good for dipping or brushing . It soaks in and dries . Takes paint coats great.
